Bracewell’s municipal finance practice is one of the largest in the nation, with more than 30 attorneys actively practicing from our Houston, Dallas, Austin, San Antonio, and Washington, D.C. offices. Many of these attorneys have been recognized Texas Super Lawyers and Texas Rising Stars by Super Lawyers and several have been recognized by Best Lawyers in America.

Our attorneys work in all aspects of public and private offerings of taxable and tax-exempt securities for public entities and non-profit organizations, including state agencies, school districts, municipal utility districts, special utility districts, regional mobility authorities and other transit authorities, cities, counties, hospital districts, river authorities, water control and improvement districts, and housing bond insurers, as well as private and non-private hospitals, electric cooperatives and museums.

When not acting as bond counsel, we represent investment banking firms, commercial banks, bond insurers, and private beneficiaries in other public finance transactions. Our public finance attorneys are well versed in all aspects of the bond issuance process, including negotiating bond purchase agreements on behalf of municipal clients that are compliant with both state and federal laws.

Our attorneys have post-issuance compliance experience, and have advised clients with respect to enforcement actions brought by both the Internal Revenue Service and Securities and Exchange Commission. We also have worked with clients in connection with the restructuring of their debt.
