Tabrez Y. Ebrahim
Tabrez Ebrahim’s practice focuses on patent prosecution, outsourcing and information technology contracts, and technology transactions. He also advises clients on patent license and technology collaboration agreements, copyright and internet law issues, and the financing and formation of startups and spin-outs. He is a frequent speaker on legal and business issues of 3D printing.
Tabrez has over 15 years of experience in invention and innovation. As an entrepreneur, Tabrez has founded technology startups, for which he led legal, operations, and strategy. He also has management experience with leading R&D projects, commercialization of university research, due diligence investigations, patent and trademark portfolio development, and corporate venture capital investments. His related transactional experience includes term sheets and startup investment agreements, stock purchase agreements, confidentiality and nondisclosure agreements, letters of intent, memorandums of understanding, master services agreements, and software license agreements.
Prior to law and business school, he was employed as an engineer in the R&D of inkjet printers and printheads, fabrication of thin films displays, and mechanical and thermal design of cooled-CCD cameras. Tabrez is also an inventor on two patents for flexible display devices and has won the Rice Business Plan Competition.
