Salo Zelermyer is a senior principal in the firm focused on formulating and implementing energy and environmental policy initiatives. He assists clients in navigating the maze of federal government agencies and key Congressional committees on issues related to large-scale traditional energy projects, renewable energy projects, alternative fuel projects and energy efficient products and appliances.
Prior to joining Bracewell, Mr. Zelermyer was appointed by President George W. Bush to serve as Senior Counsel in the Office of the General Counsel at the DOE. In this role, Mr. Zelermyer served as a senior advisor to the General Counsel and DOE leadership on a wide variety of energy and environmental issues. Among the many issues he dealt with in his time at DOE, Mr. Zelermyer was involved with regulatory proposals promulgated under the Clean Air Act, regulatory and statutory responses to climate change, DOE's loan guarantee program for new and innovative energy technologies, and DOE's advanced technology vehicles manufacturing loan program.
Before his government service, Mr. Zelermyer handled litigation for a national law firm and represented clients in a wide variety of matters including bankruptcy, real estate, class action defense, securities and white collar crime.
With his experience in private practice and the government, Mr. Zelermyer assists clients with the legal and strategic challenges in dealing with the need to meet today's energy needs while making the transition to new energy technologies, alternative energy sources and reduced carbon emissions.
