Rojean Howell


Michael Kuhn is a partner in Bracewell's Trial Section. He is Board Certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, Civil Trial Law, and has been named as a Best Lawyer in Commercial Litigation for several years.

Michael is licensed in Texas and New York, the United States Supreme Court and numerous federal circuit and district courts, and is a Foreign Registered Lawyer in the UK. His appearances include state and federal trials and appeals, and the subject matter of his civil cases includes:

In addition to these civil matters Michael has experience with internal investigations for public and closely held companies including an assortment of corporate compliance and SOx issues, project cost overruns, whistleblower, employee theft, and kickback schemes. The criminal and pro bono matters he has pursued on behalf of clients include antitrust, bid rigging, capital murder habeas corpus proceedings, prisoner rights and abuse, theft, homicide, and assault.

For more than 20 years Michael served as Bracewell's General Counsel with responsibilities for risk management, loss prevention, legal ethics and compliance programs.  Today, Michael focuses on independent consulting services to other law firms and firm clients in areas of practice relating to compliance, risk management and loss prevention. Among other things, his practice includes Commercial Litigation; Arbitration; Mediation; Internal Investigations; Corporate Governance and Compliance; and, Independent Consultant on Ethics, Professionalism, Risk Management and Loss Prevention.

Before joining Bracewell, Michael served as a law clerk to Hon. Joe Ingraham on the United States Court of Appeals, Fifth Circuit, and as an Assistant District Attorney in Harris County Texas.
