Laura Capelin’s practice focuses on asset-based finance and project finance transactions throughout the Middle East, Europe and the United States, with a particular focus on financings related to recapitalizations and mergers and acquisitions as well as major power and development projects. She has experience working with conventional and Islamic financial institutions in a variety of secured and unsecured financing facilities for private and public sector entities, including Emirate governments.

Representative Matters

Represented a lender group in its preparation of a bid for the $2 billon Fadhili Combined Heat and Power Project

Represented the arranger on the $2 billon “whole business” securitization, combined the project and property financing techniques, of the residential and tourism development of Blue City in Oman

Represented a major Islamic Financial Institution as lender in its provision of an Islamic financing facility to an Emirate government

Represented members of the Qatari royal family with respect to various Islamic financings secured by real estate located in the UK

Represented Sponsor in $1 billon “whole business” securitization of an Irish issuer, collateralized with life settlement policies and SPV interests
