Karen Cloud is a paralegal in the firm's litigation section. She has experience in both plaintiff and defense trial technologies, and has been involved in long-term litigation cases involving detailed database management including cases related to tobacco, asbestos and lead paint, and pharmaceuticals.
Throughout her career, Karen has worked on cases involving product identification, property damage, trademark infringement, public law issues, and oil and gas, among others. She is proficient in e-discovery and currently uses Ringtail to manage large cases that require a database to maintain control of document production and trial exhibits. Additionally, Karen has experience maintaining databases, generating reports and spreadsheets, and conducting intensive medical record reviews for claimants. She has also worked with Bracewell's public law section.
Karen regularly collaborates with clients and co-counsel, and is experienced in cost-effectively managing teams of paralegals and contractors for projects such as document review, database entry, and trial preparation. She creates effective, concise demonstratives for trial, and on occasion, her demonstratives have been used by both sides in the courtroom because they display the facts to the jury so effectively.
In 1986, Karen was instrumental in creating the first computerized case which involved writing a computer program in BASIC to manage property damage cases for school districts in Texas and Colorado.
