January 17, 2007

HOUSTON (Jan. 17, 2007) – Bracewell & Giuliani LLP partner Robert Joe Hull will moderate a panel discussion within the Closely Held Business and State & Local Taxes joint committee during the American Bar Association Section of Taxation’s Midyear Meeting. The meeting will take place Friday, Jan. 19 at the Westin Diplomat Resort & Spa in Hollywood, Florida.

The panel will address various recent amendments to taxation legislation affecting businesses expanding into multi-state operations, including transfer tax aspects of entity formations, reorganizations and dissolutions.  “For businesses expanding into other states, many legal taxation constraints and ramifications must be evaluated before pressing forward,” Mr. Hull explains.  “With several states moving to a new tax system in 2007, it is vital that businesses aspiring to operate in these states have a full understanding of the taxation procedures for the areas in question.”

A partner in Bracewell & Giuliani’s Houston office, Mr. Hull has more than thirty years of experience in dealing with federal, state and local taxation matters, including planning and controversy work.
