Marcy Kurtz Honored with 2015 State Bar of Texas Bankruptcy Pro Bono Award

HOUSTON Bracewell & Giuliani LLP Partner Marcy E. Kurtz was the recipient of the 2015 State Bar of Texas Bankruptcy Pro Bono Award. The award was presented on May 28, 2015 at the State Bar of Texas 11th Annual Bankruptcy Bench Bar Conference.

Kurtz leads Bracewell’s pro bono efforts, helping to increase the firm’s focus on pro bono work and diversifying the cases handled. Her work has led Bracewell to represent several clients, including the Nationals Veterans Legal Services Program and Casa de Esperanza. In 2014, Bracewell provided more than 14,000 hours of pro bono work.

In addition to her work with the firm’s pro bono efforts, Kurtz founded a nonprofit organization, Peach Outreach, to support research and education for early diagnosis, treatment and the quality of life of endometrial cancer and other gynecological cancer survivors and their families.

Kurtz’s legal practice includes financial restructuring matters, advising banks and other lenders on creditors’ rights issues and representing clients in litigation both within and outside the bankruptcy case context.
