Jarvis Hollingsworth to Be Honored in Annual University of Houston Black Alumni Annual Scholarship Gala

March 21, 2007

HOUSTON (March 21, 2007)--Bracewell & Giuliani LLP partner Jarvis V. Hollingsworth was recently selected to serve as one of three honorees at the University of Houston Black Alumni Association’s (UHBAA) Annual Scholarship Fundraising Gala, to be held at the University of Houston Hilton Hotel on Saturday, April 28, 2007.  Mr. Hollingsworth and his fellow honorees were chosen based on their personal and professional contributions to the Houston community.

The UHBAA’s “Awards of Excellence” scholarships are awarded to exemplary African-American students who exhibit good academic standing, leadership qualities and financial need.  In addition to individual contributions, the scholarships are primarily funded by corporate contributions in the form of sponsorships from Houston-area businesses and foundations.  Sponsorship packages are designed to permanently fund a scholarship in the company’s name, which will be awarded annually to a deserving African-American student.

Founded in 1988 with the mission to strengthen the relationship of alumni to the Houston community, the UHBAA continues to advance the interests and promote the welfare of the university and serve as a forum to address the various issues and concerns affecting black students, faculty and alumni, as well as the community as a whole.
