The Hartford and Bracewell & Giuliani Bring Minute Mentoring Back to New York City

April 28, 2011

HOUSTON Thirty future women leaders at The Hartford will gain the unique perspectives and advice of some of the country's most successful women at Minute Mentoring®, taking place Thursday, April 28 at The Hartford's New York offices.

Former White House Press Secretary Dana Perino teamed up with Bracewell & Giuliani's Dee Martin to create Minute Mentoring®, a unique, round robin-style forum in which accomplished female professionals share their experiences with their young professional counterparts during the rapid-fire meetings.

"Mentoring opportunities for young women are too few and far between," said Minute Mentoring® co-founder Dana Perino. "Supply can't keep up with demand and Minute Mentoring® is a program that brings together women of exceptional accomplishment with younger women anxious to follow in their footsteps. The response of the mentors has been overwhelming, their enthusiasm is catching and their commitment is humbling."

After sending some of its future leaders to a Minute Mentoring® event held in the New York office of Bracewell & Giuliani last fall, The Hartford felt so energized by the event that they wanted to bring it in house to more of their staff. The partnership between The Hartford, Minute Mentoring® and Bracewell & Giuliani was born.

“It is important to invest in talent for the future,” said Karen Tripp, The Hartford’s executive vice president of marketing and communications. “This is an excellent forum and it is a pleasure to meet and interact with this group of women.”

Ten mentors will meet with 30 mentees, who rotate to new mentors every 10 minutes. After sharing experiences and best practices regarding career and leadership goals, the event concludes with an opportunity for everyone to network. The event will include mentors from The Hartford, Bracewell & Giuliani LLP, Dana Perino & Co., Marsh, Inc., Gordon & Rees LLP, Brokerage Corporation, Corporate Risk Solutions, Inc., and others.

"We are proud to be partnering with The Hartford on this event," said Dee Martin, partner with Bracewell & Giuliani and Minute Mentoring® co-founder. "Minute Mentoring® brings together today's women leaders with young women rising stars in a way that creates powerful and memorable experiences for both mentors and mentees. We envisioned a program that would cut across industries and politics to address the very real issues that women face today. The demand for the program is overwhelming, this is the first of a number of Minute Mentoring® programs we will be hosting with our clients."
