NEW YORK (Dec. 11, 2006) — Platts, the world's leading supplier of energy information, joined sponsors Bracewell & Giuliani LLP and Capgemini in honoring the industry's most outstanding and innovative companies and executives at the Eighth Annual Platts Global Energy Awards in New York.

Bracewell is the first law firm to sponsor the event, which the industry refers to as "the Academy Awards of Energy."

Among the award recipients were numerous Bracewell clients, including Iberdrola S.A., which was named Energy Company of the Year and whose Chief Executive Officer Ignacio Sanchez Galan was named CEO of the Year; Duke Energy, which landed the Industry Leadership Award and whose Chairman Paul M. Anderson received the Lifetime Achievement Award; Current Communications Group, which was honored for Commercial Technology of the Year; and Williams, which won Hydrocarbon Producer of the Year.  For a full list of award winners, visit http://www.platts.com.jsp.

"Having the opportunity to recognize our colleagues — the energy industry's most visionary individuals and corporations — was an honor for us," explained Alan Rafte, a partner at Bracewell & Giuliani who heads the firm's energy and finance practices.  "When you consider the complex energy, environmental and compliance issues that businesses are facing in the future, it is clear that these industry leaders will lead us in inventing solutions to many of these challenges."

Prior to the evening event, executives from award finalist companies, along with Platts editors and sponsors, participated in an executive forum discussion on global security in the energy industry.
